With the release of the Crazylight Pack from adidas, today we review the Nitrocharge 1.0 Crazylight.

In October 2014, adidas released their first ever Crazylight Pack. The pack included all of adidas’ high end models?(F50 adizero, Nitrocharge 1.0, Predator Instinct, 11pro) getting a modified treatment to make?the boots lighter in any way while still maintaining the boots’ signature features.

With this being one of adidas’ unique releases, there was only 1 colorway to choose from. This odd looking design featured a scaly look that transitioned from blue to green, with what looks to be an eye on the instep and outstep of the boot. The design wasn’t specified to be anything from adidas. To me, the boots look to be either a crocodile, whale, or even a peacock. Not to sure at all, what do you think?

Purpose: The Nitrocharge 1.0 Crazylight released alongside every other adidas silo. This boot was released?to the public to be lightweight and responsive, seeming to be a perfect mix of the F50 adizero 4?and obviously, the Nitrocharge 1.0.

Information: Carrying over from the adizero was the soleplate and stud pattern. Carrying over from the Nitrocharge was only the EnergySling. Losing lots of the original Nitrocharge’s main features such as the EnergyPulse, the protective mesh, the texturing on the forefoot, and obviously the sole plate and stud pattern.

Weight:?Everything lost is?sacrificing for the lightweight feel for the Crazylight Nitrocharge making it more of a hybrid between the F50 and Nitrocharge. The Nitrocharge 1.0 weighs in in about 8.2 oz (242 grams) in a size 9US which is about average for any boot. The Nitrocharge 1.0 Crazylight cuts that weight down to 6.6 oz (195 grams) which is very lightweight.

Extras: Some extras that come with the boots are comfort insoles (along with lightweight insoles already included inside the boots), extra pair of white laces, a very nice mesh stringbag, and all this stuff comes in a drawer style ?box.

Out of the box, the boots have an odd feel on my feet. Through the midfoot, the boots fit very nicely, especially when you tighten the laces, but through the forefoot, they did feel tight because of the EnergySling. This made the boots feel a bit inconsistent throughout the upper.?That being said,?although the fit was?a bit odd for me, the boots were?still decently comfortable. After the 4-5 hour break in process, the comfort and fit of the boots changed, and pretty significantly. The boots still remained tight through the forefoot where the EnergySling was, but when you got to the toebox, you could tell it did mold to your feet. The soft inner lining and Hybrid Touch upper of the boot only makes these Crazylights more comfortable. My biggest complaint about the fit has to definitely be the very slippery heel. The heel lining uses a synthetic leather that has little grip. While running you can feel your foot moving up and down inside the boot. The only way to fix this problem is with a pair of Trusox.

Although the fit of the Nitrocharge Crazylight is a bit odd on me, the comfort is still there. My favorite part of the boot has to be the upper. I love the touch and feel of the boots especially when shooting because of all the elements on the upper. The EnergySling and soleplate offers great responsiveness. The EnergySling allows for your foot to stay still while making sharp turns and allows for no rollover. Even though the soleplate is stiff, it is very responsive. The traction used is great with the bladed studs. Stability is also no problem with the triangular studs in the back. So, did adidas get the job done by combining two great boots? Absolutely, every signature feature out of the F50 adizero 4 and Nitrocharge 1.o has been put onto one boot. Lightweight feel plus the grip and responsiveness from the EnergySling.
